TRANSPORTATION and Communications Secretary Leandro Mendoza was
re-elected president of the National Golf Association of the
Philippines during the NGAP General Council Meeting and Biennial
Elections on Friday at the Manila Yacht Club.
Mendoza immediately called out on all non-member
clubs to join the NGAP in his effort to come up with a truly united
golfing community and at the same time have a unified handicapping
system.
“We welcome all golf clubs to join the NGAP.
We are open to negotiations for the unification of golf clubs inthe
country,” said Mendoza.
Joining Mendoza, who represented Mt. Malarayat
Golf and Country Club, in the new 11-man NGAP board of trustees are
Rod Feliciano of Baguio Country Club (chairman), Commo. Danilo
Pizarro (Ret.) of Riviera (vice president), Jun Galindez of Alabang
(sec-gen and auditor), Alice Ll. Andrada of Pueblo de Oro
(treasurer), and trustees Federico Agcaoili of Baguio CC, Frankie
Locsin of Iloilo GCC, Caloy Coscolluela Jr. of Calatagan GCC,
Esteban Raul Tanpinco of Negros Occ. GCC, Pablo Soon of Wack Wack
and Edgar Arceo of Villamor.
Mendoza made a report on the NGAP’s
achievements the last two years and at the same time presented the
programs that the golf body should undertake in the future to
sustain its gains.
Under the new NGAP by-laws, the council choose
11 members of the board instead of 13. It also states that
membership dues is now based on the number of holes on a golf course
instead of per individual member of the golf club, meaning member
clubs now pays membership dues of P10,000.00 per nine holes on its
course with a maximum of 36 holes. So if a golf club has 36
holes, it would pay annual dues of P40,000.
