A STRONG second quarter and solid efforts from
Ranidel De Ocampo and Arwind Santos keyed Air21’s 105-96 win over
the Welcoat Dragons Sunday in the 2008 PBA Fiesta Cup at the Araneta
Coliseum.
De Ocampo and Santos, perhaps the
most prolific forward combo in the league, combined for 49 points,
outplaying the two imports paraded by the Dragons.
Stephen Thomas, the Express’
reinforcement, also did his share, chipping in 23 points.
After trading jabs with the
Dragons for most of the first quarter, the Express landed a solid
blow in the second to take a 52-34 lead before the break.
The Dragons mounted a comeback in
the second half, but the Express refused to crack.
Rob Wainwright carried the fight
for the Dragons with 24 as imports Cory Santee and Jason Keep failed
to find their rhythm early.
