CAREER 911
By Lloyd Luna
Weakness

Dear Mr. Lloyd,

Can you share me that tips and insights. You know I have read your book, Is There a Job Waiting for You? I just finished reading the first weapon. After reading it, a lot of questions played in my mind.

I really don’t know where to start. It’s true that if I took the course that I really don’t enjoy, I will regret all of it. And that is what’s happening to me now. For four years, I have not been given a chance to get what I wanted. I’m planning to take another course again, but this time I want to make sure to follow my heart. But do you think I can make it?

Dear buddy,

Let’s see how it goes from here. I’m afraid you’ve spent so much time living a life that you don’t want. Nonetheless, there’s no more time to waste to look back and regret. I think the best that you’ve ever done so far is to have acknowledge where you are and what you want.

You’re not the only one who’s living with the same kind of problem. I’ve met so many students also who have been on almost the same boat as where you are right now. Many of them don’t recognize what’s wrong until now.

In my own experience, before we can live up to our dreams, we need to wake up first. Now that you’re awake, let’s work on some assignments to make you stay conscious.

There are three things that I’d like you to do starting today. First is you forget about the sad experience that you’ve had in the past but take the lessons you’ve learned along with you. Your downbeat experience may either help you to totally commit yourself to a life change or a career change, or it can paralyze you to stay where you are regardless of your conscious knowledge and desire to change.

Second is you need to come up with a very strong commitment to what you really wanted to become. Many people don’t get what they want and don’t become their ideal person simply because they don’t have any idea about what they want or what they want to be.

Being specific gives you a clear path to achieving whatever it is that you want to achieve. Our mind can only act on the mental picture that we feed in it every single day and the emotion that we consistently repeat most of the time.

Third, you need to find your strength and capitalize on it. You’ve mentioned in the latter part of your letter that you’re not good at one particular area and you asked me if it’s necessary to work on it.

My answer is no. We all know that everyone is weak on his or her weakness. I think that’s the simplest reason and logic that can explain my answer. Many of us though still try to work on our weaknesses because we thought that’s a smart way to succeed.

It’s very interesting that I discovered that all successful people that I’ve known and studied were all “strength capitalists.” They became so successful in business and in their career because they developed their strength and left their weakness for other people to compliment it.

In other words, this is not about one person. Your success in whatever career that you’re going to choose will depend also on how well you do in finding the people who can compliment your weakness.

Thanks for writing!

Your life coach,
Big L
