REGISTRATION for the Philippine Seniors Amateur Golf
Championships is on May 5 with the country’s top golfing elders
expected to vie for top honors in various divisions at Riviera’s
Langer course.
Entry fee rates are P3,500 (local
entries) and $90 for foreign participants in the Open division, and
P2,500, or $65 in various age-group classes. A free practice round
is also set on May 5, according to the organizing National Golf
Association of the Phils. (NGAP).

Former President Fidel V. Ramos
will hit the ceremonial ball together with NGAP Secretary-General
Jun Galindez while NGAP president and Department of Transportation
and Communication Secretary Leandro Mendoza has also been invited to
grace the tournament, which also features competitions in various
age groups, including Category II (60-64), Category III (65-69),
Super Senior I (70-74) and Super Senior II (75 and above), all
36-hole duels.
The Philippine Team members for
the 2008 Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur Golf Championship will be
chosen from the top finishers in the tournament together with the
2008 Philippine Amateur Senior Match Play champion.
Iggy Clavecilla will be seeking a
third straight crown in the premier Open division although a host of
others will be out to foil his bid, including former national
champion Francis Gaston, Rolly Viray, Dave Hernandez, Bing Bunye,
Tony Olives, Benny Gopez and Tommy Manotoc.
