PCVCA, Good Shepherd rule
Taguig team rapid chess

 
THE Philippine Centennial Village Condominium Association topped the 1st Taguig Rapid Chess Team Open at the Activity Center of Market! Market! on Wednesday in Global City, Taguig.

PCVCA and Good Shepherd actually finished with 12 points each, but the former emerged with the superior tiebreak points.

They split the combined P60,000 prize for the top two finishers. Pre-tournament favorite Philippine Air Force settled for third and P10,000.

Rounding up the top five were the Far Eastern University Tamaraws and Hirang Law Firm.

The category winners in the event supported by Mayor Freddie Tiñga, Vice Mayor George Elias and the Taguig City Council were the Lady Knights Chess Team and Tanyag Chess Club (top ladies), Taguig Kiddie Team and Laguna Kiddie Team (top kiddies), Adamson University High School and Taguig Secondary Chess Team (top secondary), San Sebastian College (top collegiate) and La Immaculada Concepcion High School Chess Team (best in uniform).

National Chess Federation of the Philippines president Prospero “Butch” Pichay graced the one-day event organized by Carlito Sulit, National Master Homer Cunanan and Dominador Dico.
