Mitsubishi truck tops safety tests
Mitsubishi revealed its Strada
pickup scored four stars out of a possible five in the Adult
Occupant Protection category of the 2008 European New Car Assessment
Program (Euro NCAP) and its Australian counterpart (ANCAP).
Mitsubishi credited its exclusive
Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body and frame system for
the enhanced survivability factor of its occupants. The RISE frame
incorporates the front and rear crumple zones with reinforced beams
to absorb collision force and direct it away from the vehicle’s
interior. Besides the RISE body, Mitsubishi also cited the
Strada’s dual-stage front SRS airbags and seatbelt pretensioners.
According to the carmaker, the
Strada also convincingly passed the Swedish Moose (also called Elk)
test, where vehicles are made to do evasive maneuvers to determine
if they’re stable.
Philippine Mitsubishi assembler
and distributor Mitsubishi Motors Phils. Corp. (MMPC) said the test
results are proof of the Strada’s competence and serves as a handy
tool in further promoting the pickup—whose 4x4 version is
presently enjoying a 34-percent share in its segment.
“It gives great value for the
money, thanks to its unique features. And now, given this high
rating safety rating from Euro NCAP and ANCAP, the market is assured
that the Strada is also the safest pick up in the market today,”
said MMPC Assistant Vice President for Marketing Services Froilan
Dytianquin.
