THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) on
Wednesday will start issuing certificates to those who successfully
passed the retake of June 2006 nursing exams done in December 2007.
On December 1 and 2, 2007, the examinees did a
voluntary retake of the examination of Test III and V of the highly
controversial June 2006 Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE).
Labor Secretary Marianito Roque said the
distribution of certificates will be done from 9 a.m. to 12 noon,
and from 1: 30 p.m. up to 4:30 p.m. at the DOLE’s main office in
Intramuros, Manila.
The distribution of certificates will start upon
the presentation of the examinee’s Professional Regulation
Commission (PRC) License.
For those living outside of Metro Manila, Roque
said the nurses may claim their certificates through the DOLE
Regional Offices, but they should register with the regional offices
nearest their place of work or residence.
“The DOLE Central Office shall transmit [in
batches] the Certificates within three days from receipt of notice
from the Regional Office concerned,” Roque said.
Passers representatives will be required to
present an authorization letter together with the examinee’s
original PRC License and a photocopy of the License for DOLE files.
Some 1,131 nurses licensed under the June 2007
NLE took the voluntary retake in December. Out of that number, 729
or 64 percent passed the exam.
The rest of the examinees (402 or 36 percent)
failed to meet the passing grade of at least 75 percent in both
Tests III and V.
However, the labor secretary clarified that the
results of the voluntary retake examination will not affect their
status as licensed nurses.
Those who failed the retake examination will not
qualify for US Visa Screen Certificate issued by the US Commission
on Graduates of a Foreign Nursing School (CGFNS).
