LEGAZPI CITY: Earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.8 and 4.6 in the
Richter scale rocked the provinces of Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate on
Wednesday.
Ed Laguerta, chief of Philippine Institute of
Volcanology and Seismology in Bicol said intensity 5 was felt in
Bulan while intensity 3 was reported in Legazpi City. He said the
two earthquakes were of Tectonic origin and the depths of focus were
shallow.
“The tremor that took place in the morning had
intensity 5 felt in the towns of Bulan and Donsol in Sorsogon and
intensity 3 felt in the cities of Legazpi and Masbate,” continued
Laguerta, adding that the afternoon quake was felt with intensity 3
in Irosin, Sorsogon and intensity 2 at the Lignon Hill, in this city
and Masbate.
While there was no reported damage, Cedric Daep,
chief of the Albay Provincial Public and Safety Management Office
alerted the Albayanons to be on guard and ready for any eventuality.
