Scholarship program supports education

By James Konstantin Galvez Reporter

The Siam Cement Group (SCG) and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) have announced the first batch of scholars under its pilot “Sharing the Dream” scholarship program that supports the improvement of education in the country.

SCG Paper President Chaovalit Ekabut said that the program will benefit 200 incoming second year high school students in the Batangas, Bulacan and Metro Manila areas where the companies’ subsidiaries operate.

“SCG believes that education is key in individual and community development and will ultimately contribute to the Philippines’ economic growth,” Ekabut said.

“We are very pleased that our first major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project in the Philippines with respect to individual development has finally been fulfilled,” Ekabut added.

PBSP said the scholarship will cover the scholars’ school uniforms, school supplies, allowances, and other miscellaneous expenses for an entire school year.
