LEGAZPI CITY: Following the assassination of Police
Supt. Narciso Guarin by the communist insurgents on May 8, Police
Director General Avelino Razon warned the Bicol police force to
double their efforts in the fight against the New People’s Army in
the region.
Razon spoke before the Bicol
police during the change of command on Friday.
“I’m sounding this alarm
because our men assigned in the far-flung areas are very vulnerable
to rebels’ attack,” Razon continued.
Razon was guest speaker in the
turn-over-command ceremony of Police Senior Supt. Roberto Bondoc who
was replaced by Police Chief Supt. Paterno Bangui, as acting
regional director for the Bicol police.
The communist guerillas
liquidated Supt. Narciso Guarin on Monday morning while on his way
to Camp Gen. Semion Ola. Guarin was former Legazpi City police chief
and deputy chief of Human Resources Personnel Department (R1) in the
region.
The Santos Binamera Command-Bagong
Hukbong Bayan of the New People’s Army admitted the killing of
Guarin over the local radio station here.
