Tigers gain share of lead

ASI TAULAVA and Jason Dixon proved their might at the paint and the Coca-Cola Tigers went on to beat the Magnolia Beverage Masters, 106-92, Friday to grab a share of the lead in the 2008 Smart-PBA Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum.

The 6’9” Taulava and the 6’9” import Dixon combined for 31 rebounds as the Tigers joined the idle Red Bull Barakos on top with six wins against two losses.

“Magnolia came to the game with a mindset that is designed to kick out Jason Dixon from the game but it was their import who was in trouble in the middle part of the match,” said Coca-Cola coach Binky Favis.

George Gervin Jr., Coca-Cola’s second import, also delivered. He finished with 35 points, including 18 in the first half that enabled the Tigers to post their best start in an import-laden conference since 2003 under Chot Reyes.

“I think this is the first time we won a little convincingly. I’m confident now we over our performance,” added Favis.
