Marikina: A slice of Singapore sans air travel

ONCE a sleepy town, Marikina has evolved into one of most progressive cities in Metro Manila. Besides being the country’s shoe capital, Marikina City has earned another moniker, “Little Singapore.” Like the Lion City, Marikina is a place where age-old traditions and cutting-edge innovations are greeted with the same degree of enthusiasm.

Traipsing through Marikina, one cannot dismiss the semblance- from the iconic landmarks (the Merlion in Singapore and world’s largest shoes in Marikina) to the spotless streets and effective traffic scheme. In terms of sightseeing, the two cities offer a large plate for their visitors to choose from: museums, recreational centers, theatres and nature parks. Both even boast their own butterfly park. But what makes Marikina a “Little Singapore” is not the pristine roads or the endless attractions one can see. It’s the colorful contrasting ambiance. Step into one part and one can feel the urban buzz, the unbridled energy that comes with the bustling metropolis life. Escape to another area and one is transported to a rustic, rural, laidback mood. This is what makes Marikina an excellent community to live in and raise a family.

One exclusive residential community has opened its doors in Marikina: Marquinton Residences, a project by Federal Land.

True to its commitment, and with three decades of experience in property development, the real estate arm of the Metrobank Group, is pulling out all stops to make Marikina City the next metropolis with the three-tower, mid-rise residential clusters that is Marquinton Residences.

To date, two residential towers, Alicante and Barcelona Towers, are already completed. The newest community, now numbering to 215 residents, is enjoying the comforts of home and the convenience of condominium living. Cordova Tower, the third residential building is schedule for groundbreaking in May 2008. The Blue Wave Marquinton and a Robinsons Supermarket are integrated in the complex to provide the leisure, shopping and dining needs of its residents.

Marquinton Residences offers urban lifestyle amenities to its residents. Pocket gardens and picnic areas will provide residents a cool and refreshing environment. Young and old can enjoy a refreshing dip in the swimming pool.

A jogging path and biking trail will allow residents to discover the benefits of healthy living.

Federal Land, Inc. is driven by its mission to provide excellent and timely service in creating world-class projects, and is guided by its vision of becoming a leading developer of communities that provide an improved lifestyle for Filipinos today and tomorrow. Likewise, the local government is transforming Marikina into a modern and livable city. With the city government and Federal Land’s parallel efforts, Marikina is seeing the fruition of its aim to become the Little Singapore of the Philippines.

A bustling community situated in a melting pot of ideas and culture, Marquinton Residences helps make Marikina the best place to experience Singapore without the air travel.

For more information, visit the Marquinton Residences showroom along Sumulong Hi-Way or call 681-0111.
