Career and Entrepreneur Fair 2008 set
to be the biggest jobs expo this year

JobsDB.com, Asia Pacific’s leading job board, will hold the biggest career fair of the year, the Career and Entrepreneurship Fair (CEF) 2008, on May 21 and 22 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. About 25,000 participants are expected to benefit from the fair that will present thousands of job openings from various industries and free seminars on career development and entrepreneurship.

Vice President Noli de Castro, Secretary Cerge Remonde of the Presidential Management Staff (in behalf of President Gloria Arroyo) and Presidential Adviser for Job Creation and Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap will grace the opening and ribbon-cutting ceremonies on May 21 at 9 a.m.

Two features of CEF 2008 designed to provide assistance to jobseekers are the DZMM Teleradyo, which will provide live coverage of the activities during the career fair to help applicants on the site maximize their job search and JobsDB.com’s “Libreng Sakay,” which will bus in jobseekers to the World Trade Center from designated pick-up points in Makati Avenue, LRT 1 Gil Puyat Station, EDSA MRT Taft Station and the cities of Parañaque and Taguig.

As standard practice in JobsDB.com-organized job fairs, participants can use their Career Cards to apply in various companies. The Career Card enables jobseekers to apply in as many companies as they wish without need for a printed resume. It is given free of charge and requires only online registration by logging on to www.jobsdb.com.ph.

The seminars on May 21 starting at 1 p.m. are: “Assessing How Close You Are to Your Dream Job” to be conducted by Job1 Global; attaining a higher level of achievement and enjoyment both on and off the job to be discussed by The Center for Family Ministries; and managing one’s career based on the Harvard School of Business’ tool and strategy to be presented by John Clements Consultants Inc. For those considering higher studies, Inter-Education Specialists will tackle “The Need for Continuing Education.”

On May 22, the Technology Resource Center will share different business ventures for prospective entrepreneurs while Google Philippines will talk about doing business online. The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and Convergys will also give free talks. The seminars will start at 11:00 a.m.

CEF 2008, sponsored by Presidential Adviser for Job Creation Arthur Yap and Convergys, will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (For more information about CEF 2008, log on to www.jobsdb.com.ph or call 914-8000).
