DIGITALLIFESTYLE

Palm Centro

What is it: The new smartphone from the iconic Palm brand.

Who’s it for: Palm fans rejoice! You now have a new option other than the Treo. Less expensive at that!

Wallet magnet: Latest Palm OS 5.4.9; 128MB of internal RAM; fast Texas Instruments 201MHz XScale processor; extended personal information manager; multimedia functionalities; touch screen; supports up to 4GB SD card; available in a variety of colors.

On second thought: Cramped QWERTY keypad; lacks WiFi; only 1.3MP digicam; Palm is near death.

What’s in the box: Palm Centro smartphone; USB cable; power adapter; CD software and manual.

Tech Times’ verdict: It’s hard to pick the Centro when there’s the Nokia N-Series, not to mention the upcoming local release of the Apple iPhone and of course, Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X1 and the BlackBerry Bold, nonetheless, if you’re looking for an inexpensive smartphone, then this Palm may fill that gap.
