LETTER

Vast majority are with Gloria

Mr. Marlen Ronquillo’s article (“Gloria in Excelsis” May 18, 2008) fails to account for the majority of the Filipinos’ being unmoved by the obvious posturing and conspiracy of all the anti-Arroyo factions against her administration. We all know that Arroyo will never be given credit by the opposition for the country’s economic vitality, billion-dollar investments, the nautical highway, tourism growth, millions of new jobs gained, etcetera.

But the majority of Filipinos, in cities and provinces, rich and poor, OFWs, market vendors and call-center employees, feel the gains of Arroyo’s administrations hard work. They disdain the political opposition’s never-ending attempts to bring down the country’s gains.

In this country that loves chismis, we certainly were entertained by the ZTE zarzuela in the Senate produced, directed and brought to you by Lacson, Estrada, ABSCBN, et al. But we are too discerning to be swayed by these rabid oppositionists. Hakot crowds will take the money and food to attend their rallies. Their financial reach will draw the usual politicians and BGO activists to harrass Arroyo.

But in the end, the vast silent majority voted with it’s silence and nonparticipation. This is the true story.
