Authorities deport Japanese swindler

THE Bureau of Immigration has ordered the immediate deportation of a Japanese who is wanted for alleged swindling in his country.

Immigration reports have it that the 50-year-old Hiroshi Takeuchi, who was arrested at the Harrison Mansion in Pasay City by the joint forces of immigration and National Bureau of Investigation agents last Thursday, is wanted in Japan for stealing 25 million yen worth of fraudulent real-estate deals from Michivo Shiraishi and her husband, Saita, between December 2005 and May 2006.

Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan said Takeuchi’s arrest was made based on the request of the Interpol office in Tokyo, Japan, who sought help in tracking down the fugitive Japanese.

“His [Takeuchi’s] arrest and impending deportation serve as a warning to foreigners that the Philippines does not have a place for such fugitives,” Libanan said.

The Japanese will also be deported for overstaying in the country.

Interpol data revealed Takeuchi worked as a salesman for Tama Home Inc., but misrepresented himself as the company’s bill collector to his victims.
