Air21 prevails over Magnolia

ARWIND SANTOS scored 11 points in the final six minutes to lift Air 21 Express over Magnolia, 96-90, on Wednesday in the 2008 Smart-PBA Fiesta Conference at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City.

The score was tied at 78-all when Santos joined hands with  import Steve Thomas and Gary David to carry the Express to their second straight win.

Coach Bo Perasol expressed elation over win that sent Air21 to a share of second place with idle Coca-Cola at 6-4, behind co-leaders Talk ‘N Text and Red Bull, which have 7-3 win-loss records.

Down 30-42 going into the last minutes of the second quarter, the Express worked on a solid defense that silenced the Beverage Masters for four minutes and cut the deficit to 39-44 at halftime.

David led Air21 with 24 points followed by Thomas with 23 while Santos and KG Canaleta chipped in 15 and 12, respectively.

Jameel Watkins had a game-high 29 points for Magnolia, which slid to fourth with five wins and five losses. Danny Seigle contributed 21 while Dondon Hontiveros added 11 points.
