The debutante

Getting to know author Stephenie Meyer

By Grace Marie Rivera, Special to The Manila Times

Stephenie Meyer graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in English. She lives with her husband and three young sons in Phoenix, Arizona.

On June 2, 2003, she had a vivid dream about two people having an intense conversation in a meadow in the woods. She was so intrigued by the puzzle her mind created that she wrote about it everyday until The Twilight was born.

After the publication of her first novel, Twilight, booksellers chose Stephenie Meyer as one of the “most promising new authors of 2005” (Publishers Weekly). Following The Twilight are equally beautiful sequels New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn and Midnight Sun.

On May 6, 2008, she released her first adult novel entitled The Host. It immediately won as New York Times Number One Best Selling fiction book of the week of May 18, 2008 as well as in Wall Street Journal and Publisher’s Weekly.

Because of her award-winning works, Meyer earned a following of fans and is now predicted to be the next J.K Rowling.
