Tech Times is proud to announce that, again, we have built a new
test lab computer. Besides the other three test lab units already in
use here at Tech Times—two are based on Intel Core 2 Duo and the
third on Intel Core 2 Quad—our latest system is based on the AMD
triple-core Phenom X3 8650 running at 2.3GHz clock speed. We will be
using the new setup with the following PC components: Kingston
HyperX KHX8500D2K2 2G DDR2 1GB x4 (RAM); WD Caviar SE16
500GB x2 EIDE/SATA (HDD); ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe (motherboard);
ASUS DRW-1608P (DVD-RAM); ASUS nVidia EN9600GT Silent (graphics
card); dual 19" ViewSonic VX1932WM (LCD); Behringer MS16
(multimedia speakers); ASUS Chilly Vent (CPU cooler); Ultra X3 600W
(power supply unit); APC-MGE Smart UPS SUA1000i (UPS); and,
Microsoft Windows 64-bit Vista Ultimate (operating system). The
new AMD Phenom-based test lab PC will be used alternately along
with the Intel units as a major part in running and testing a
variety of PC peripherals for Tech Times’ Hardware section, which
mainly features computer parts. With that said, Tech Times
would like to thank: AMD Singapore for providing us the chip; ASUS
Phils. for the mobo and other PC parts; plus our friends
at Kingston Taiwan for the RAM modules. Somehow, we now feel
complete.
