Toyota models dominate
respective segments in April

Toyota Motor Phils. (TMP) said the new Toyota Corolla Altis dominated the compact small passenger car (PC) segment in April based on reports it received from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. TMP said the reports showed the Altis registered sales of 657 units last month, making it the leader with a 42.6-percent market share. On a year-to-date basis, Toyota sold 1,257 Altis sedans since it was introduced in March, TMP added.

The Corolla Altis’ strong performance contributed to Toyota’s overall leadership in April, the company said. It added Toyota maintained its triple-crown title by topping sales of passenger cars with 1,670 units sold, sales of commercial vehicles with 2,371 units sold, and total sales with 4,041 units sold last month. Toyota’s cumulative sales in the first four months of 2008 is recorded at 14,160 units.

Besides the Altis, five other Toyota models emerged leaders in their respective segments, TMP bared, as the Vios led the subcompact small PC with 833 units sold while the Camry topped the midsize PC segment with 127 units sold.

TMP said it sold 872 Innova vehicles, making it the leader in the midsize multipurpose vehicle (MPV) category and remains as the country’s best-selling passenger car as well. Also, the Avanza dominated the compact MPV segment with sales of 476 units while the Fortuner continues to lead in the sport-utility vehicle category with sales of 475 units in April, according to TMP.

TMP announced it wishes to thank its customers by extending its Toyota Savings Plus Promo that makes the Innova, Avanza and Vios affordable at P200 a day. The promo runs until May 31. For more info, visit any of Toyota’s 27 outlets or log on to www.toyota.com.ph.
