BAGUIO CITY: The city is set to unveil a giant flag at the Athletic
Bowl during the celebration of the 110th Independence Day on June
12.
City officials led by Mayor Reinaldo Bautista
Jr. clarified that Baguio is not gunning to set a world record of
sort but the unfurling of the giant Philippine flag will be a
must-see event.
Bautista, during his regular Ugnayan forum
hosted by government-run DzEQ, announced that he has already
coordinated with concerned sectors to help in making what he
described to be a “gigantic” Philippine flag.
It was not immediately known what the targeted
size of the giant flag is and who will be the overall coordinator in
making the flag.
The mayor added that Baguio is expected to
receive dozens of flags from the national government, which are to
be displayed in strategic areas in the city.
Several residents in Baguio have already
displayed big flags in frontages to stir public awareness on the
importance of the flag and to remind the public of the upcoming
Independence Day celebration.
