Macapagal youth shooting tilt unfolds

THE search for the next national shooting champion continues Saturday and Sunday with the staging of the 1st Art Macapagal National Youth Championships at the Philippine National Shooting Association (PNSA) range in Fort Bonifacio.

Shooters 12 to 17 years old from Quezon City, Tagaytay, Taguig, Makati and Manila who are enrolled in the National Youth Development Program have been invited to compete.

PNSA President Art Macapagal, a former Olympian, will grace the tournament which also serves as tuneup for the country’s participation in the 2010 Youth Olympics in Singapore.

“This is a good time for us to start looking for future champions,” said Macapagal.

Action Saturday is confined to all air pistol events starting at 7:30 a.m. Each participant is required to pay a P300 fee. Those wishing for an optional refire during the tournament will have to pay P400.

Air rifle events will be disputed Sunday.
