THE search for the next national shooting champion
continues Saturday and Sunday with the staging of the 1st Art
Macapagal National Youth Championships at the Philippine National
Shooting Association (PNSA) range in Fort Bonifacio.
Shooters 12 to 17 years old from
Quezon City, Tagaytay, Taguig, Makati and Manila who are enrolled in
the National Youth Development Program have been invited to compete.
PNSA President Art Macapagal, a
former Olympian, will grace the tournament which also serves as
tuneup for the country’s participation in the 2010 Youth Olympics
in Singapore.
“This is a good time for us to
start looking for future champions,” said Macapagal.
Action Saturday is confined to
all air pistol events starting at 7:30 a.m. Each participant is
required to pay a P300 fee. Those wishing for an optional refire
during the tournament will have to pay P400.
Air rifle events will be disputed
Sunday.
