ADAMSON UNIVERSITY dominated the net and played solid
defense to win the Shakey’s V-League title over Ateneo de Manila
University before a full-house crowd at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Falcons, who downed the
Lady Eagles in the best-of-3 series opener Tuesday, 25-7, 25-14,
23-25, 25-22, reasserted their supremacy to post a 25-17, 25-13,
25-17 victory Friday for their fifth straight over the Eagles this
season.
“We just played our game. We
played pressure free all throughout,” said Adamson skipper Rissa
Laguilles, who finished with 17 points, including 12 hits, to clinch
the Finals MVP.
But the day belonged to guest
player Neriza Bautista, who earlier captured the MVP plum, her
crowning glory to a superb performance throughout the fifth season
where she powered the Lady Falcons to their first-ever championship
in the league sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza.
She was the second Adamson player
to cop the MVP plum after Cherry Macatangay.
Earlier, San Sebastian made it
two in row over Lyceum, 25-18, 25-14, 25-17, to claim third place
honors.
