At this decades-old La Moderna bakery, they really do
make them like they used to

On a road trip to Guagua, Pampanga to check out an old bakery? Those
had better be some pretty spectacular breads and pastries.
Fourth generation businessman Angelo Songco told
us stories of their little enterprise. The bakery was actually
founded in the early 1900s by his great grandparents Ignacio and
Maria Narciso in the neighboring town of Santa Rita. But in 1947,
Pablo, one of the Narcisos’ children, decided to transfer the
business to the neighboring town of Guagua, which by then was
starting to become more modernized and attract more commercial
establishments.
