Senate President Manuel Villar Jr. cited the Senate Thursday for
passing 49 national and 135 local bills “despite differences among
members that tried to shake the institution.”
“The Senate has remained steadfast on its
prime duty to legislate,” he said.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson, a prime critic of Villar,
agreed. He said the productivity of the Senate indicated that the
political and personal differences among senators did not affect the
Senate performance.
