Villar cites Senate performance  

Senate President Manuel Villar Jr. cited the Senate Thursday for passing 49 national and 135 local bills “despite differences among members that tried to shake the institution.”

“The Senate has remained steadfast on its prime duty to legislate,” he said.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson, a prime critic of Villar, agreed. He said the productivity of the Senate indicated that the political and personal differences among senators did not affect the Senate performance.
