Electronics weakness persists

Exports pick up in August

DESPITE weak electronics shipments abroad and declining sales to the United States, Philippine exports in August slightly accelerated, the government reported Friday.

The National Statistics Office (NSO) said export earnings in August rose 6.5 percent to $4.39 billion compared with last year’s $4.12 billion. In July, exports had grown 4.4 percent.
