Muslims observe Ramadan,
leaders appeal for peace

ARMM Gov. Ampatuan says, “This year’s fasting month should be more special as our region is once again caught up in a serious instability.”

COTABATO CITY: The Office on Muslim Affairs (OMA) head office in an official memorandum sent to all its regional offices including the one based here in this city announced Sunday declaring today as the first day of fasting for Muslims in the Philippines and worldwide which corresponds to Ramadan 1, 1429 in the Hegira calendar, as Muslim leaders appeal for peace during its observance.

OMA Executive Director Ali Sangki made the official declaration contained in a memorandum addressed to all OMA officials, employees, and Muslims all over the country reminding them of their religious duty to Allah by way of fasting for the period of 30 days starting September 1.
