Isuzu Philippines marks 11th
year with donation to La Mesa Dam

Isuzu Phils. Corp. (IPC) announced it recently commemorated its 11th year of operations by donating to the “Save the La Mesa Watershed” project of ABS-CBN Foundation. Isuzu revealed it has committed to rehabilitating 11 hectares of greenery—symbolizing one hectare for every year of the company’s existence—at the La Mesa Dam over the next three years. The company said it turned over P495,000 to the Bantay Kalikasan section of the foundation.

Attending the turnover ceremony were IPC President Keiji Takeda, IPC Corporate Business Vice President Arthur Balmadrid, ABS-CBN Foundation Managing Director Gina Lopez and Bantay Kalikasan Operations Manager John Paul Balayan.

“Every year, instead of throwing meaningless parties, we mark our anniversary on July 31 by doing something that gives back to the community,” Takeda said in a speech. “What we’re doing now with the Save the La Mesa Watershed project is going to benefit the 12 million Filipinos who get their drinking water from La Mesa Dam.”

IPC said its anniversary celebration began with its key people and ABS-CBN Foundation taking part in a 1.2-kilometer fun run at the La Mesa Eco Park that was followed by a weeding activity at the Shell Flower Terraces. The event was capped by a tree-planting ceremony, according to IPC.

“We at Isuzu have always subscribed to the principle that every individual and every company should strive to make the world a better place to live in,” Takeda said. “We fail as responsible human beings if we’re unable to do so. Since Isuzu proudly calls itself ‘Your Responsible Partner,’ you can rest assured we will uphold that role as long as we operate.”
