Sulu governor faces recall petition before Comelec

Gov. Sakur Tan is not bothered, says people know his accomplishments and many programs for the province

ZAMBOANGA CITY: Political opponents of Governor Sakur Tan of Sulu have filed a petition with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to unseat him and cited loss of confidence in his leadership.

Ali Judah, a resident of Lu­gus, an island town off Sulu, accused Tan of failing to improve the peace and order situation in the province, citing the kidnapping of ABS-CBN television presenter Ces Drillon and three others early this year. The trio secretly went to the Abu Sayyaf to interview one of its leaders, but were eventually held and released weeks later after paying a huge ransom.
