ZAMBOANGA CITY: Political opponents of Governor Sakur Tan of Sulu
have filed a petition with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to
unseat him and cited loss of confidence
in his leadership.
Ali Judah, a resident of Lugus, an island town
off Sulu, accused Tan of failing to improve the peace and order
situation in the province, citing the kidnapping of ABS-CBN
television presenter Ces Drillon and three others early this year.
The trio secretly went to the Abu Sayyaf to interview one of its
leaders, but were eventually held and released weeks later after
paying a huge ransom.
