Tweetie de
Leon not just
a pretty face. |
They say a picture is worth a thousand words,
photos do more than just capture and showcase the beauty or story
behind the image. Photos also have the power to draw emotions and
inspire us to take positive action.
This adage was once again proven true by the
Camera Club of the Philippines (CCP) held Visions for Red, a photo
exhibit to benefit the Makati branch of the Philippine National Red
Cross (PNRC). The photos featured women of style and elegance who
generously donated for a good cause.
Women whose photos were featured in the exhibit
include Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Jeena Lopez, Tweetie de Leon-Gonzales,
Marissa Concepcion, Kai Lim, Marissa Cojuangco, Abby Jimenez, Millet
Belmonte, Mons Tantoco, Trina Alindogan and Candy Dizon. Also
featured were Cathy Qu, Ruthy Vera, Kay Tinga, Cedie Vargas and
Grace Ang.
Sixty members of the CCP took the
photographs of these ladies and generously donated to the PNRC their
professional fees, which were paid for by these benevolent women who
graciously allowed themselves to be photographed.
Photos of Annette Tirol, Lyn Manalansang, Sandy
Prieto-Romualdez, Dawn Zulueta-Lagdameo, Suzanne Cobonpue and Lisa
Araneta-Marcos were likewise showcased. Also featured were the
pictures of Maricris Albert, Doyee Tumpalan, Susan Florete, Cindy
Yang, Audrey Puckett-Chiu, Tisha Bautista, Cristina Romualdez,
Crickette Tantoco, Nanette Medved, Mary de Leon, Peewee Figueroa,
Florence Ko, Annette Abrogar, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Sharon Cuneta.
“This exhibit proves how art, beauty and a
kind heart can go a long way in helping the marginalized members of
our society. We are thankful to all the lovely and accomplished
women who generously gave their time to support this noble endeavor
by the Camera Club of the Philippines. We hope that this would be
the start of more similar undertakings in the future,” says PNRC
Makati branch director Marivic Rufino.
CCP president Raoul Littaua praised the generous
and lovely ladies who posed for the exhibit saying, “With a
beautiful model, 50 percent of the photographer’s job is done.
However, I speak for my colleagues in the club when I say that, in
the case of the shoots for Visions for Red, 90 percent of our job
was done. You ladies are all beautiful people and it was a real
pleasure photographing each one of you.”
The Camera Club of the Philippines, the oldest
in the country, has continued virtually uninterrupted since 1928.
Descendants of the original eight founders are still club members
today. The club has previously mounted major photo exhibitions and
multimedia events. Earlier this year, the club held its first
exhibition in New York City titled “22/24-Dimensions of Hope” at
New York University ’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center.
The Red Cross Makati City branch is a new branch
of the PNRC Rizal Chapter, having been formally launched a year ago
in August 2007. It is part of a network of 12 branches and 1
subchapter that services 12 million people, tasked to deliver all of
the Red Cross’s 6 major services: disaster management, safety
services, blood banking, community health and nursing, social
services and Red Cross Youth. In the future, the branch hopes to
blood type every Makati resident.
