Fresh cut in growth goal seen

THE National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) on Monday said it would recommend a further reduction of the Philippines’ economic growth target for this year owing to costlier food and fuel and a global slowdown.

NEDA Director General and Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ralph Recto said the Development and Budget Coordinating Committee (DBCC) may further cut the country’s growth target to between 5 percent and 5.5 percent.
