Another big step backward
|
|
The Supreme Court’s ruling last week to uphold its March ruling on
the Neri vs. Senate Committee case, in effect, affirms the right of
the President and her chosen people to hide—from the Congress, the
media or any person or institution seeking the truth about the
executive’s activities—their lies, their attempts to lie and to
commit acts that could be criminal or are in fact criminal.
This decision, in the words of Justice Teresita
Leonardo de Castro, who also wrote the March ponencia, takes away
from the Congress—“the political branches of government”—the
right and duty to seek the truth about a crime or an attempt to
commit a crime in the course of a congressional hearing in aid of
legislation.

rating of President GMA.
