Torre draws match, wins PGMA Cup
|
|
A BLAST from the past provided Philippine chess a whiff of fresh
air.
With the country’s fancied young guns falling
by the wayside, Grandmaster Eugene Torre single-handedly carried the
fight for Filipinos—just like old times—and emerged as champion
in the Third PGMA Cup international chess championship Friday at the
Duty Free Fiesta Mall in Parañaque City.
It’s been a while since Torre won the last of
his numerous international titles.
