LETTER

Women make good P1 news

I am looking at your issue of Saturday September 13. Your top headline is “10,000 Filipino kids die yearly from diarrhea.” Under that is the news that “Military says MILF using child soldiers.” Beside it is “Official GDP forecast ‘overly optimisic’ ” which means the economic growth will dip. Another page 1 story is about the brother of the Court of Appeals whistleblower, the hero, going on leave and likely to go away forever because he is guilty of trying to influence his brother, a justice, and that is a criminal act. The bottom news is that our ecology will be killed by climate change, so we Filipinos will also die with our fishes and animals.

The only good pieces of news are about two good women: Sarah Palin in America and Chief Persida Rueda-Acosta of the Public Attorney’s Office.

You should have news about another good, great, woman: the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God. Her shrine in Lourdes is being visited by Pope Benedict XVI. But you ignored that news.

It’s not too late. Turn to her and ask her to save the Philippines and the world from all the evil things that are happening.
