Cardinals oust Stags, earn last semis berth
|
|
MAPUA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY banked on Kelvin de la Peña and Allan
Mangahas to beat San Sebastian College 63-54 and clinch the last
semifinal berth in the 84th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at
the Cuneta Astrodome.
The pro-bound de la Peña and Mangahas joined
hands in a 24-2 run as the Cardinals advanced to the semis for the
third-straight year.
Trailing 25-26 at halftime, the Cardinals struck
hard in the third quarter and limited their opponents to only 2
points to post a 49-28 advantage.
