Congress ready for bailout, wants help for middle class |
|
WASHINGTON: US congressional leaders, stunned by the depth of the
meltdown, considered quick legislative action Saturday on a huge
White House-proposed bailout for the financial sector but demanded
help for workers and reeling Wall Street firms.
A senior official in the administration of
President George W. Bush said the details of its massive finance
sector rescue plan worth hundreds of billions of dollars were sent
to members of Congress on Friday.
