Islamic law provides a guideline for determining
whether a child is a minor
|
|
COTABATO City: An Islamic scholar who is well-versed in the
interpretation of the Qur’anic injunctions said Monday that the
Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) from the perspective of Islamic
Law may have either committed violation or none at all in using
so-called “child soldiers.”
Imam Jamiul Jasim, of Masjid Al-Kaumpang in
Jatih Tunggal, Indanan, Sulu who was reached by phone told The
Manila Times that his guideline is based on Islamic law as to
whether the child is still a minor or has already reached the age of
majority. He said the MILF might have violated the Qur’anic
injunction if these “child soldiers” are really minors from the
point of view of Islam being sent to the battlefield. He explained
to be considered as a minor in Islam, a child has to be 14 years
