Rebels, soldiers clash anew in Mindanao

MILF warns the Arroyo government that a bigger war could erupt in southern Philippines

ZAMBOANGA CITY: Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels attacked a government patrol in the southern Philippines, sparking fresh clashes Thursday, officials said.

Major Armand Rico, a regional army spokesman, said the fighting erupted at around 8:30 a.m. in the village of Dunguan in North Cotabato’s Aleosan town. There were no immediate reports of casualties, he said.
