A great effort of introspection, a marriage of designs and applied
arts is all made in the 2008 Fall-Winter Collection of Women’s
Accesories by Salavatore Ferragamo.
The “Varina” shoe collection unleashes
wicked plays of light with its grosgrain brow and its leather graced
with satin and velvet in the new collection’s colors: green,
cyclamen and chocolate. Tie-dye, a laborious fabric dyeing
technique, is applied here, exceptionally, to shoes. New flat models
will be recognizable with the famous Ferragamo patent, the authentic
“Opanka” sole, in its leather straps contrasting with super fine
suede and unique pumps in seductive black pony-skin, cut in squares.
Luxurious through its cubist spectacles with
surprising optical effects, the hand bag collection is perfectly
fashioned from a single hide of leather with no break between the
handles. Its body features sophisticated tie-dyed skins like
pony-skin, crocodile and water snake. The leathers are folded as if
it were rice paper in the Japanese origami tradition. The “Vara”
edition avails small leather goods with pleats, 3-D textures and
soft volumes.
The silk collection is an art of mixing flowers
and animals to create “pictures” of incredible richness and
luxurious fantasies with its powerful design, intriguing use of
color and an infinite variety of tones and shades.
Simplicity of form; richness of materials;
absolute mastery of construction techniques—the inspiration is
wholly interior which is the essence for this year’s Fall-Winter
collection.
