BLOGS are here to stay. It is no longer a matter of debate. “It’s not a fad. Blogging is a new form of [citizen] journalism and a growing industry. Now, it is not uncommon to see magazines, especially the tech ones like PC Magazine and Electronic Gaming, retain their on-line component,” says Jayvee Fernandez, founder and publisher services director of Blogbank, a local advertising network that aggregates more than 350 Philippine blogs and markets them as ad space to various clients.

The business model of Blogbank is simple: by having a number of blogs that talk about a spectrum of topics ranging from mothering to tech to food under its wing, it can promote these blogs to advertisers and use them as platforms to launch word-of-mouth campaigns amongst its target publics.
