The New Tourism Bill, Malacañang
officials say, will be signed by President Gloria Arroyo soon. Does
it undermine the still pending Rationalization of Fiscal Incentives
Bill, which Malacañang—on the urging of the Department of
Finance—certified as a priority in 2008?
We have written
before of the importance of a New Tourism Law. Such a law will once
and for all give the country’s tourist industry a gigantic boost.
