Cotabato City declared under a state of calamity

Two killed in flash floods, as 30 of 37 villages remain submerged

Cotabato City: Mayor Muslimin Sema on Sunday has placed this city under state of calamity after 30 of the city’s 37 villages remained submerged by flood water because of the weeklong downpour, while two villagers died as a result of flash floods in the other areas of Central Mindanao.

Sema said he has ordered the release of emergency fund to help the residents in the affected villages where most of their belongings were drifted in the flood.

ZAMBOANGA CITY: Military authorities on Sunday said a kidnapped 5-year-old boy was recovered in Basilan province Army First Lt. Steffani Cacho, a spokeswoman for the Western Mindanao Command, said the victim, Joven Aries de la Cruz was recovered on Saturday afternoon in the town of Mohammad Ajul.
