ONCE again, the country’s oil companies have outdone themselves. While the nation—indeed, the world—mourns the passing of former President Corazon Aquino, the Big Three—Shell, Petron, and Chevron (formerly Caltex)—jacked up the prices of their fuel products by another peso.

This latest increase comes on the heels of a two-peso hike they imposed on motorists a few days before on the night President Arroyo delivered her last State of the Nation Address (SONA).
