Sandiganbayan reaffirms Cuerpo suspension

Anti-graft court notes mayor’s move obviously meant to delay implementation of suspension order

The Sandiganbayan on Friday had junked the second appeal of Mayor Pedro Cuerpo of Rodriguez, Rizal along with that of several other town officials, as it reaffirmed their suspension, saying that their motion “is merely a reiteration of previous arguments already laid to rest.”

In a resolution signed by Justice Teresita Diaz-Baldos, the anti-graft court’s Second Division said it “stands firmly by its previous resolutions and resolves that the instant pleading of Cuerpo bears no merit.”
