THE government failed to raise
the total amount it had planned during Monday’s auction of
Treasury bills (T-bills), as banks sought higher rates in exchange
for their money.
The partial rejection of bids for
the short-term debt instruments comes as the government scrapped
altogether a plan to raise money through the sale of retail Treasury
bonds (RTBs) this year.
