WHAT a powerful company San Miguel Corp. must be.Merely by extending
its stock-swap program, it effectively served notice to Malacañang
and the Supreme Court that both have only a month to decide on
whether the state would convert its common shares in the country’s
biggest food and beverage conglomerate into higher-yielding
preferred shares.
The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) early
last week said it had filed before the High Court a motion for the
conversion.
