Dalai Lama to meet Taiwan’s 
separatist former president


TAIPEI: Former Taiwanese President Lee Teng-hui, whom Beijing has labeled a splittist, may meet the Dalai Lama when the spiritual leader visits the island next week, a source close to Lee said Friday.

“Former President Lee and the Dalai Lama are old friends and they are willing to meet again, and they certainly will if time permits,” said Chow Meili, head of the Taiwan Friends of Tibet, a nongovernment organization.
