To Patsy Paterno, business is merely a question of faith. And while she never believed herself to be a great manager—forgetful at times and reluctant to say the least—she did hold on to the belief that a higher power would never let her down. Nowadays, she has no reason to doubt that. From being that young girl who used to earn one peso a day for painting figurines, Paterno is now managing one of the oldest and most successful gift shops in the Philippines—a “miracle” more fondly known as Papemelroti.
