LEGAZPI CITY: With the church maintaining its strong opposition
for any form of gambling, the city government opted to stop the
potential of casino operation despite initial popular support from
the business community and the public.
Said to be a decisive factor for the decision
was the church citing the region’s economic misery made doubly
disturbing by all forms of gambling that has considerably saturated
region including jueteng operation with bet collectors reportedly
invading schools and government offices.
