Marcoses lose $35-M claim

Court finds no new argument in Arelma case

The Sandiganbayan Special Division handling the Marcos case junked with finality the claim of the Marcos family to the $35-million Arelma accounts that was handled by Merill Lynch Asset Management in New York City.In a four-page resolution written by Associate Justice Norberto Geraldez, the anti-graft court affirmed its April 3, 2009 ruling that dismissed the separate appeals filed by the Marcos children Imee Marcos-Manotoc, Rep. Fer­dinand “Bongbong” Mar­cos Jr. of Ilocos Norte, Irene Marcos-Araneta; along with the estate of former President Ferdinand Marcos represented by his widow, former Imelda Romual­dez Marcos. The Sandiganbayan said that the arguments presented were merely rehashed and does not warrant a reversal of their earlier judgment.
